Meet Garrett Johnston: Trynzic’s New Director of Strategic Accounts

Trynzic continues to hire bright people to fill industry software gaps and help utilities advance their digital capabilities. In this post, we introduce our latest hire, Garrett Johnston.

Johnston comes to Trynzic with 25 years of utility industry experience. He started as a utility analyst and consultant before leading sales efforts for innovative vendors of meter data management, consumer engagement, analytics and other automated systems. His career track record includes booking and leading sales engagements that have generated more than $22 million in revenue from investor-owned utilities such as Georgia Power and Dominion Energy.

In his new role, Johnston will focus on cultivating relationships with investor-owned utility accounts, helping to identify new opportunities and nurture them through the pipeline.

“We’re thrilled Garrett has joined the team,” said Trynzic CEO, Andrew Tokarz. “He brings a wealth of industry experience with a long track record of advocacy for sustainable smart grid technologies. He also brings a keen understanding of key investor-owned utilities that will be critical as we look to expand our message. His knowledge will be instrumental to our success in driving the utility industry forward to digitization.”

Throughout his career, Johnston has been an outspoken advocate for the smart grid and sustainable utility technologies. He received a bachelor’s in journalism from James Madison University and an MBA from Georgia State.

Johnston and his wife love to travel, visiting US national parks and going abroad to Europe when they can. As a former sportswriter, he also enjoys spending time playing, officiating, coaching and/or watching sports. His favorites include hockey, football, baseball and soccer. He and his wife are soon to be proud empty nesters, with their two oldest sons getting married last year, and their youngest son completing his junior year in high school.

Congratulations, Garrett. Welcome to Trynzic!
